OIL & GAS GAMIFIED

The decisions that prevent incidents and the procedures that keep operations running, taught in games crews finish instead of click through. Built custom for your operations, contractors, and sites.

Permit-to-Work LOTO H2S Response Confined Space Emergency Drills Operator Rounds Contractor Onboarding

In oil and gas, bad training costs lives.

Every cycle, crews have to stay safe across overlapping regimes: OSHA, IOGP, OPITO, IADC, and whatever the operator at the gate adds on top. Most of it gets delivered as SCORM modules built a decade ago and classroom hours that come straight off the schedule.

And the judgment calls that prevent the next incident still get learned on the job, after the close call instead of before it.

So make it a game.

The decisions that matter in oil and gas are learned by making them. You don’t click your way to a clean permit or a saved barrier. So we build custom games around the real procedures, regulations, and assets your operations actually run.

Permit Master GU-OG-01 Permit-to-Work

Permit Master

Document Review & Decision Sim

A document-review game where players act as permit issuers, receivers, and area authorities, building work packs for hot work, confined space entry, and line-breaking. Hidden hazards must be surfaced before approval; missed isolations are scored against barrier integrity, not against speed. Inspired by the equipment-identification failure that drove the 2024 Deer Park H2S release.

Use Case
HSE managers, permit issuers, area authorities, contractor supervisors
Key Skills
PTW judgment, isolation verification, equipment positive identification, hazard recognition
Stop Work Hero GU-OG-02 Life-Saving Rules

Stop Work Hero

Decision Sim & Behavioral Practice

A first-person scenario game built around the nine IOGP Life-Saving Rules: bypassing controls, working at height, line of fire, energy isolation, hot work, lifting, driving. Players face dilemmas under social pressure from peers, supervisors, and customers. Scoring rewards the reasoning behind the call, not just the right answer. The instinct comes from drilling the same dilemma dozens of different ways.

Use Case
All field workers, contractor pre-mobilization, new-hire onboarding
Key Skills
Stop-work authority, hazard recognition, line-of-fire awareness, intervention courage
Gas Alarm Triage GU-OG-03 Emergency Response

Gas Alarm Triage

Time-Pressured Decision Game

An H2S or gas alarm response game where players read a portable detector, check wind direction, and choose between withdraw, investigate with SCBA, or raise the facility alarm, all inside a 30-second decision window. Built around the early-decision muscle the contractors who died at Deer Park never had the chance to build.

Use Case
All field workers, contractors, emergency responders
Key Skills
Gas detection, PPE selection, wind awareness, escalation timing, muster discipline
Operator Rounds GU-OG-04 Operations

Operator Rounds

Walkable Inspection Sim

A patrol game where operators walk a virtual route through compressor skids, tank farms, and pump houses, checking pressures, temperatures, valve positions, and housekeeping. Anomalies are seeded at calibrated difficulty: subtle, moderate, glaring. The game builds the pattern-recognition that veteran operators have and new ones haven’t yet earned.

Use Case
Field operators, panel operators in training, mid-career upskilling
Key Skills
Anomaly detection, instrument reading, route discipline, escalation judgment
Bowtie Builder GU-OG-05 Process Safety

Bowtie Builder

Investigation & Diagram Game

An incident-reconstruction game where players investigate a near-miss and build the bowtie: hazards, threats, top event, consequences, barriers, degradation factors. The system asks what would have stopped the next link in the chain, and scores how well you can predict the next failure if the same barriers stay weak. Aligned to API RP 754 and the leading-indicator frameworks regulators are pushing hardest.

Use Case
HSE leaders, process engineers, frontline supervisors, incident investigators
Key Skills
Barrier thinking, bowtie construction, root cause analysis, investigation judgment
First 30 Days On Site GU-OG-06 Onboarding

First 30 Days On Site

Journey Game & Competency Tracker

A new-hire and contractor pre-mobilization journey covering orientation, hazard spotting, SOP basics, reporting lines, and the first stop-work scenario. Built to gate badge issuance: contractors finish the game offline on a tablet at the gate, the operator gets an xAPI badge in Cornerstone or SuccessFactors before mobilization. The contractor-onboarding wedge no one has truly productized.

Use Case
New hires, contractor pre-mobilization, site-specific induction at scale
Key Skills
Site rules, hazard recognition, reporting protocols, stop-work authority
The Handover GU-OG-07 Operations Communication

The Handover

Conversation & Capture Sim

A handover game where the player faces an outgoing operator at shift change and must capture critical information under time pressure: equipment status, permits in flight, recent alarms, watch items. Downstream consequences score the quality of what was communicated. Shift handover is a documented causal factor in Texas City, Buncefield, and Piper Alpha, and almost no vendor has built a game around it.

Use Case
Panel operators, field supervisors, rotating shift crews
Key Skills
Structured handover, information triage, follow-up questioning, callback discipline
Alarm Storm GU-OG-08 Console Operations

Alarm Storm

Triage & Prioritization Game

A control-room game where a cascading process upset floods the operator with alarms. Players must prioritize, acknowledge, and act inside a shrinking window before the plant trips. Scoring rewards barrier preservation, not silencing speed. Bridges the gap between the physics-accurate OTS tools engineers use and the gamified decision practice front-line console operators rarely get.

Use Case
Console operators, panel operator trainees, refinery and LNG operations
Key Skills
Alarm prioritization, abnormal situation management, escalation, recovery sequencing
Stop Work Conversations GU-OG-09 Behavioral Practice

Stop Work Conversations

AI Voice & Dialogue Roleplay

An AI voice and dialogue roleplay for the conversations that decide whether stop-work actually happens: a supervisor pushing to skip the gas test, a contractor cutting a corner, a peer who shouldn’t be on the rig today. Players speak or choose, the AI responds in character, and scoring covers tone, content, escalation sequence, and barrier-preservation language. The cultural piece that posters and toolbox talks have never fixed.

Use Case
Frontline supervisors, area authorities, contractor coaches, safety culture programs
Key Skills
Stop-work conversation, intervention dialogue, escalation language, fatigue & mental-health check-ins
Leak Hunter GU-OG-10 Sustainability Operations

Leak Hunter

OGI Camera Simulation

An optical gas imaging (OGI) survey game where players walk a facility looking for methane plumes through a thermal-camera view, scoring detection rate, false positives, and quantification. Aligned to OGMP 2.0 reporting and the methane intensity numbers operators now publish. The first move into the energy-transition skill set almost no vendor has built yet.

Use Case
Sustainability and emissions teams, field technicians, LDAR programs
Key Skills
OGI camera operation, leak detection, quantification logging, OGMP 2.0 awareness

Built around the regulations your assets already answer to.

Process Safety Management

OSHA PSM 1910.119, API RP 754, RP 755, RP 770, and SEVESO III. The backbone of refinery and petrochemical compliance. Operators drill barrier integrity, MOC, and operating envelope thinking through decision-led scenario play.

IOGP Life-Saving Rules

The nine rules IOGP estimates would have prevented roughly 70 percent of the 1,484 industry fatalities they studied. Increasingly cited in RFPs as the content spine. Players drill each rule through realistic dilemmas, not posters.

Offshore Survival & Induction

OPITO BOSIET with CA-EBS, MIST, HUET, and FOET refreshers. Mandatory for North Sea, Gulf of Mexico, and most international offshore mobilization. We don’t replace the wet drills; we sharpen the judgment between them.

Covered by: Gas Alarm Triage · First 30 Days On Site

Drilling & Land Operations

IADC RigPass (the successor to SafeLand and SafeGulf) and Energy Safety Canada CSO. The land-side orientation baseline for drilling contractors across North America, with overlay coverage for IWCF well-control awareness.

Covered by: First 30 Days On Site · Stop Work Hero

Regional Operator Standards

ADNOC’s contractor matrix, Saudi Aramco SSMS, Petrobras SMS, and the country-specific overlays that gate site clearance in the Gulf, Brazil, and SE Asia. We map our content to the operator’s matrix, not just the global standard.

Covered by: First 30 Days On Site · Permit Master

Hazardous Materials & Atmosphere

H2S awareness and response, atmospheric testing for confined-space entry, NFPA codes for flammables and combustibles. The category that keeps producing the worst CSB cover pages. Trained as decisions under pressure, not as memorized exposure limits.

Covered by: Gas Alarm Triage · Permit Master

Emerging Operations: Methane, CCUS & Hydrogen

OGMP 2.0 methane reporting, CCUS operations and MRV, hydrogen handling, and the operator-conversion training that the Martinez renewables incident proved was overdue. Greenfield content where the major vendors have published almost nothing.

Covered by: Leak Hunter

Training-credit eligibility varies by regulator and operator. We work with your HSE and compliance teams to align game content with the regimes your assets are accredited under, and pursue OPITO, IADC, or operator-specific accreditation where it adds value.

Whoever owns the decision at your firm, this works for you.

HSE & SAFETY LEADERS

Drill the decisions that have actually hurt your industry, not the ones that look good in a binder. Get readiness data per crew, per contractor, per site, segmented the way audits and incident reviews actually need it. Tie training to leading indicators, not completion rates.

L&D & TRAINING MANAGERS

Retire the SCORM modules nobody finishes. Swap them for games crews replay on their own, with real engagement metrics and per-worker progress. The kind of numbers that hold up in front of leadership at budget time, and integrate cleanly with Cornerstone, SuccessFactors, and your competency overlay.

OPERATIONS LEADERS

Shorter time-off-tool. Same-day site clearance for new contractors. Crew readiness you can verify before a turnaround instead of hoping for it. And the kind of shift-handover and operator-rounds practice that has measurably moved near-miss rates in the field.

C-SUITE & PROCUREMENT

A direct line from training spend to lagging-indicator reduction. Coverage that flexes with your contractor populations, scaling up at turnaround and back down after. Multi-country, multi-language, multi-regulator deployment that doesn’t fall over at integration.

Every surface. Built for it.

VR, mobile, web and LMS, or classroom. We build for each platform directly and design for the surfaces your crews actually use, whether that’s one of them or several.

SURFACE · 01

VR (Meta Quest)

High-fidelity hazard practice for confined space, work at height, energy isolation, and emergency response. Headsets in a kit, ship to the site, run a cohort. Pairs cleanly with classroom facilitation.

SURFACE · 02

Mobile (Offline)

iOS and Android, runs offline on remote rigs and at the gate. Contractor pre-mobilization, refresher drills, daily microlearning. xAPI badges cache locally and sync when connectivity returns.

SURFACE · 03

Web & LMS

Browser-based, SCORM 1.2 and xAPI compliant, SSO-ready. Integrates with Cornerstone OnDemand, SAP SuccessFactors, Docebo, Workday Learning, and competency overlays like Kahuna Workforce.

SURFACE · 04

Classroom & Live

Facilitator packs, multiplayer crew drills, and after-action replays for turnaround kickoffs and safety stand-downs. Tournament mode for live events. The piece your wet drills and toolbox talks have been missing.

From brief to build.

Four stages. Typically 8 to 16 weeks from first call to deployed game, and we can start with a single-game pilot if that fits your procurement cycle better.

  1. 01

    Discover

We embed with HSE, L&D, and Operations to map the procedures, hazards, named incidents, and failure modes that matter most to your assets.

  2. 02

    Design

Game designers co-create mechanics with your SMEs and pilot with one crew or one site before we touch a wider rollout.

  3. 03

    Build

Custom art, systems, scenarios, and narrative crafted in-studio. Built for the platforms you need: VR, mobile, web, or classroom. Typical timeline 8 to 16 weeks.

  4. 04

    Deploy & Measure

LMS / SSO integration, offline xAPI contractor badging, and a competency dashboard tied to your leading indicators. Ongoing iteration from live player data.

Training that sticks.
